From the Ground Up

Film Synopsis

From the Ground Up shows a town coming together to support its members, grow food, and do the necessary work to live kindly and responsibly off the land.

In Ishpeming, MI, the slow work of building a community is being done. And it takes every one of its members, from the newborn to the 99 year-old, to do it.

Partridge Creek Farm is unique as the only nonprofit educational farm in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and it’s striving to build a resilient food system in a town of 6500 in one of the most food insecure regions in the country. Through the development of farm-to-school education, growing and distributing fresh, healthy food, and fostering deep relationships with Ishpeming natives and newcomers, Partridge Creek is using food not only to feed people but to connect them to the earth and each other.
